SNES and my Mac
So, I got the urge yesterday to play some Super Nintendo, specifically Super Mario World, but I don’t have a Super Nintendo, so what’s the next best thing? An emulator! Wow!
For those of you who don’t know what an emulator is… click the link on ‘emulator.’
Now, back when I used to be into emulation, which was way back when I had a Windows computer as my primary computer, I used to use ZSNES. It’s the best emulator out there (SNES games only, I believe). Sadly, it is a Windows/Linux only application…
OR SO I THOUGHT!
Yes kiddies, ZSNES has been ported to the Mac! Woohoo! I know this isn’t new news, but I hadn’t heard a word about this so bear with me. The awesome part is, it works just like it’s Windows/Linux versions. Mind you, I haven’t found a way to record movies, but still, it works! Yay!
The history behind this marvel of a masterpiece is basically this (summed up from this site):
This awesome programmer (a king of programming) named hector ported ZSNES ported version 1.43 over and since then, the guys at the ZSNES forums managed to up the version to 1.51 and so here we have it.
Pretty sweet right?
Here are some screens (click for full size):
So, this pretty much kicks ass and also wastes a ton of my time.
Sadly, I don’t know when the newest release of the Mac version will be hitting the hard market of the internet, but I’m sure I’ll have it asap and I’ll let you kiddies know.
Mind you, I own all of the games shown and any and all emulation should be in legal and legit ways… Oh wait…

Ps. here’s another link to the ZSNES emulator just in case.
